Using Pulse VPN in OSX

Modified on Wed, 01 Jun 2022 at 05:48 PM

If you are looking for instructions on installing Pulse VPN, please refer to Getting started with Pulse VPN

Once pulse is installed on your device, you will have to "connect" the pulse application in order to access resources that reside on campus.  This connection is temporary.  You will need to re-connect pulse when any of the following occur:

-You have been connected to pulse for more than 12 hours

-You reboot your computer

-You wake your computer from sleep

-You change network locations

Connecting Pulse Secure Application

1. You can manage the connection state by clicking on the Pulse icon in the system tray and selecting "Lesley University>Connect", as seen below:

2. You might receive the following pop-up window. If so, just press the Proceed button.

3.  As an added layer of security, at this point, the Pulse secure client will run a security scan called Host Checker.  If upon finishing the host checker scan, you receive a failure to connect, please see our Host Checker article for further information at https://support.lesley.edu/support/solutions/articles/4000175331-pulse-vpn-host-checker

4. Upon connecting, you may be prompted to login with your SSO credentials.  Once the connected state says "Connected", you will be able to connect to any on-campus resources that you have been granted remote access to, such as colleague, informer, fileshares, etc.  These can all be accessed directly from your desktop or using the same URL's you would have used from campus.

Once the Pulse icon has a solid green Up arrow, it means that it is currently connected.  At this point you should be able to access your approved remote resources.

Fileshares

If you have Lesley File shares mapped on your device, you should be able to use them as if you were on campus, so long as pulse is connected.  If you need assistance mapping your file share, please reach out to it@lesley.edu.

Colleague/Informer

Once connected to Pulse, you may access the Colleague and Informer login pages at their respective links that reside on https://lesley.edu/colleauge

Resolving Invalid Certificate Errors

If upon trying to connect, you receive a certificate error such as the one below, you will need to install a certificate file on your device.  In order to do so, please download the file HERE .  Then double click on the file that you have downloaded.  This should open up your keychain and will most likely require you to enter your device password.  Once completed, you should be able to connect the pulse VPN without any certificate errors.  If you continue to see errors, please reach out to it@lesley.edu for further assistance.  Thank you.
