In the unlikely event that your cumulative GPA is not provided, or if you'd like to check it for accuracy, you can calculate it yourself using the guide below. You can also consult Lesley's academic catalogs for comprehensive information.

Quality Points

Each letter grade you receive translates to a specific number of quality points. For instance, a grade of "B" in a three-credit course equates to 9 quality points (3 credits x 3.0 points = 9 quality points).

Summation of Quality Points

Accumulate the quality points earned from all courses you've taken to get the total quality points.

Division by Credits Attempted

Divide the total quality points by the total number of credits attempted to calculate your GPA.

Example:

If you have earned 270 quality points from 90 credits, your GPA would be 3.0 (270 quality points ÷ 90 credits = 3.0 GPA).

Exclusion and Inclusion of Certain Grades

Certain grades are excluded from the GPA calculation, including “P” (pass), “I” (incomplete), “W” (withdrawal), “AW” (administrative withdrawal), and “NA” (never attended). However, the grade "F" (failing) is always included unless the course is repeated.

Handling Course Repetitions

If you repeat a course, both grades will appear on your transcript, but only the second grade counts towards your GPA.

Example:

If you initially received a "C" (2.0) in a 3-credit course and later received a "B" (3.0) in the same course upon repetition, the latter grade would be used to compute your GPA.

Special Considerations for Graduate Students

Graduate students must attain a grade of “B-” or better in core or required courses for them to count towards degree requirements. A maximum of three (3) credits of “C+” grades in elective courses can be used towards degree requirements.

If you are still having trouble finding or calculating your cumulative GPA, you can contact your academic advisor or the Office of the University Registrar for assistance.
