Finding my MAC address

The MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces. It's basically the physical address of your network connection.


This means if you have both a wired and wireless connection on your computer, that you have two MAC addresses: one for the wireless adapter and one for the wired.


Here's how to find your MAC address on your computer.


Mac OS X 10.12

  1. Click on the Network icon in System Preferences.
  2. Select either Ethernet (Wired) or Wi-Fi (Wireless) on the left panel.
  3. Click the Advanced button.
  4. Click on the Hardware tab.
  5. The MAC Address is listed.



Mac OS X 10 (older versions)

  1. Go to the Network icon in System Preferences.
  2. Select either Ethernet (Wired) or Airport (Wireless) on the left panel.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Click on the Airport or Ethernet Tab.
  5. The MAC Address is listed as the Airport ID or Ethernet ID.


Windows 10/11

  1. In the Ask me anything space next to the Windows icon, type cmd.exe
  2. Type ipconfig /all
  3. Find the Physical Address listed under Wireless LAN Adapter or Ethernet Adapter (depending on type of connection)

or:

  1. Right-click on the Windows icon.
  2. Click on Run from the drop-down menu.
  3. Type cmd.exe in the Open: space.
  4. Type ipconfig /all.
  5. Find the Physical Address listed under Wireless LAN Adapter or Ethernet Adapter (depending on type of connection)


iPhone/iPad


  1. Go to settings or search "settings".
  2. Scroll to "General" and tap it.
  3. Tap "about" and scroll until you see "Wi-Fi Address".


Android

        1. On your Android device, go to the device "Settings" by clicking on the Settings gear icon.
        2. In the Settings page, click on the Connections tab. 

        3. On the Connections page, click on the Wi-Fi tab. 

        4. On the Wi-Fi page, click on the settings gear icon next to Eduroam network.

        5. On the Eduroam network settings page, click on the view more link. 

        6. The Mac Address is located in the MAC address box.
