What is Deregistration?
Did you receive an email notification that you were deregistered from your courses? This most often happens if you have an unpaid balance on your account past the due date.
Lesley University notifies students of pending financial obligations and impending deregistration. Student Accounts will attempt to contact you whenever you have an unpaid balance. If your balance is still unpaid shortly before classes begin, you'll be deregistered.
Consequences of Deregistration
Deregistration can affect your academic progress and your financial aid. For example:
- You could lose your spot in a course.
Once you're deregistered, the spots you occupy in your sections will open. If a course section reaches maximum enrollment, it will close. You'll still have the option to join the waitlist, but that doesn't guarantee a spot in the section.
- Your financial aid could be affected.
Financial aid awards are contingent on at least half-time enrollment per term. Any enrollment reduction requires the Financial Aid Office to recalculate your eligibility. After that, you might find that your financial aid has been reduced or removed.
Avoiding Deregistration
To prevent deregistration, check your Lesley email and Self-Service account often. If you have an unpaid balance–or another outstanding obligation–contact us promptly. In the event of unpaid balances, solutions such as payment plans may be available. You might also find that the Financial Aid Office still needs information from you.
Resolving Deregistration
Once you've been deregistered, you should contact us right away. We can help you resolve your balance so that you can visit Self-Service and re-enroll in sections. To contact us, submit a ticket or call 617-349-8760.
