While having a touch screen on a computer can be great, at other times it can lead to accidentally logging into websites, or drilling into screens where you don't wish to go. If you are feeling frustrated with the accidental touches on the screen when you're working, then you can turn off the touch-screen feature! You can turn the feature back on at any time, so you don't have to worry about deleting the feature entirely.

1. Go to the Control Panel. You can start typing control panel in the search feature of your computer and your system will pop up with control panel. Click on the Control Panel search result.

2. In the All Control Panel Items window that pops up, click on Device Manager as in View A.

Note: If you see the Control Panel window instead of the All Control Panel items window, see View B.  Click on Hardware and Sound in the Control Panel window (a), then click on Device Manager in the Devices and Printers list in the window that pops up(b).

View A - All Control Panel Items window

View B - Control Panel window

3. In the Device Manager window, click on the arrow in front of Human Interface Device to show the list of devices.

4. Right-click on the HID-compliant touch screen device. Choose Disable device from the menu that pops up.

5. Click the Yes button on the window that pops up.

6. To turn the touch function back on, just right click on the HID-compliant touch screen again and choose Enable device.
